Young children are introduced to pre-mathematics concepts as it helps the young minds to explore and develop an understanding of the world around them. 
These concepts are used by us in our everyday life to sort, count, measure and analyze. 
In fact, children start developing these pre-mathematical skills, without even realizing, when they are still little munchkins exploring their environment. 
Activities like sorting and organizing, drawing, playing with building blocks, etc., help children develop pre-mathematical skills.

What Is Full And Empty?




Full
  • Full means containing or holding as much or as many as possible.
  • In simple words, it means having no empty space.

Empty

  • Empty means containing nothing
  • In simple words, it means not filled or occupied.
  • In the above image, the boy on the left is holding an empty basket.

Activities That Will Help Your Child To Learn Full And Empty Concept

Interactive activities are excellent ways to help children understand the concept of full and empty in a better way. 

The full and empty games and activities mentioned below will help kids to identify when to use the word full and when to use the word empty. 

These activities will also help in enhancing their logical and motor skills.

1. Water The Plants

What You Will Need  

  • Watering can
  • Plants
  • Water

What to Do

  1. Hand the watering can to your child. Tell them it’s empty.
  2. Ask them to fill the watering can with water and tell them now it’s full.
  3. This way, your kids will learn about the empty and full concept.

2. Sensory Bin Game


What You Will Need

  • Pom poms of 2 different colours
  • 3 empty bowls

What to Do

  • Take a bucket and add all the pom poms to it.
  • Give the basket to your child and ask them to sort the pom poms according to the colours in separate bowls.
  • After they are done sorting, ask them which bowl is empty and which one is full.

3. Fill The Empty Jars

What You Will Need

  • Clear jars
  • Water

What to Do

  1. Present your child with two clear jars.
  2. Show them that the jars and empty and encourage them to say the word empty.
  3. Now ask your child to pour water into one of the jars until it is full.
  4. Stop and show your child that the container is now full and encourage them to say the word full.
  5. Show them the empty jar and the filled jar and help them understand the difference between empty and full.

Empty and full is an important concept that kids must be aware of. 

Learning about this concept will prove to be extremely beneficial to your child when they later study this in detail.
